PROPULSION ENGINEER

Propulsion Section Lead
Job Summary:
The team member in this position focuses on the design, testing and implementation of HPR's in-house propulsion systems. Drawing knowledge from theory and practice, this member will design and evaluate critical components, and provide operational support to the team.
Propulsion systems incorporate a plethora of different disciplines, including but not limited to; Electrical and Pneumatic engineering, Materials engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry and Physics.
Responsibilities:

Develop design processes for key components in Hybrid rocket engines

Applying theory and practical knowledge to help design propulsion systems

Work closely with other sub-teams to integrate propulsion systems with rocket infrastructure

Share ideas with other team members to grow the sections potential
A knowledge of, or an interest in Learning:
-
Fundamental Thermodynamic and Aerodynamic theory
-
Rocket Propulsion Systems
-
Computer Aided Design (CAD) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
-
Machining process such as the use of lathes, CNC machines
-
Advanced 3D Printing processes
-
Electrical and Pneumatic systems for unique injection and Ground station equipment
-
The finer intricacies of Propulsion Systems - including but not limited to; Regulatory requirements, logistical challenges, research applications and more.

A very complex - yet fulfilling field of research and application!
