SAFETY OFFICER - Hamish Self

Monash HPR takes safety very seriously for our team and those we interact with through competitions and areas such as the Makerspace. Meet out Safety Officer, Hamish Self, who is an Aerospace Engineering and Science (Applied Mathematics) student.

Roles and Responsibilities at HPR:

Making sure our rockets follow the competition safety guidelines, and that the team stays safe while building them. I also contribute to the Propulsion team's work.

Projects and Tasks worked on:

I've worked extensively on developing Saturn - incl. the ballast calculator, CFD integration, stability calculations, GUI, and wind modelling. Currently working on developing an engine model for the Propulsion team.

Favourite Monash HPR moment:

Getting the altitude reading from Hyperion's sensors at the 2019 AURC competition - finding out the final flight altitude was within 0.1% of what Saturn had predicted.
